Frequently Encountered Problems

  • FAQ: Will it be okay with an older car?

  • In general, even if your car is old, if you can secure the bulb shape and ensure normal voltage, installation is possible as long as there is enough installation space. However, if the durability of components like the alternator (generator) or battery on the car has expired, the supplied voltage may become unstable, leading to issues like non-lighting or flickering.
  • In such cases, replacing the alternator or battery may improve the situation. Also, if the car model you plan to install has a special dimming system or other special specifications, there may be a possibility that the lights will not light up properly.
  • We recommend that you consult a professional installer or similar specialist for installation confirmation.

  • FAQ: What is Lumen, Kelvin, and Candela?

  • Lumen and Candela are indicators of brightness, and Kelvin is an indicator of color. Lumen refers to light output, and it is the most commonly used unit to express "brightness." For LED bulbs, this unit is usually indicated on almost all packaging. A higher lumen value indicates a brighter light, but in the case of headlights, it is important to consider "how far it illuminates the road surface." Instead of making judgments based solely on numerical values, it is important to carefully review the manufacturer's explanations.
  • Candela refers to luminous intensity, and it is a unit that expresses the "strength of light" emitted from a light source. When measuring this value, the bulb is installed in a headlight, and the highest intensity of light reflected on a 10m/25m wall is measured.
  • While "luminous intensity" is an important criterion for good products, it is not the only one. There might be issues with too much light leaking upwards, causing glare for oncoming vehicles. Therefore, "proper light distribution" is important.
  • Kelvin is indeed an indicator of color temperature.

  • FAQ: Differences Between H3, H3a, H3c, and H3d?

  • The appearance of "H3, H3a, H3c, H3d" OEM bulbs are significantly different, and they are not interchangeable. At SUPAREE, the HID bulbs we handle are only H3/H3C, and we do not handle H3a or H3d.
  • However, for HID conversion, it is possible to attach an H3/H3C bulb to an H3a or H3d by shaving about 1mm from the base of the bulb to widen the slot. (Note: This modification cannot be done with LED products, as the base is made of metal.)
  • Regarding the certainty of fitting, it is currently difficult for us to confirm at our store, so we kindly ask that you check with the installers or specialists you plan to use before making a purchase.
  • 💡
  • If you shave too much, the bulb's stability may be compromised, so adjust it carefully while checking the fit.
  • We do not sell bulbs that have been modified, so please do so at your own risk.
  • Returns due to modification mistakes are not accepted, so please be aware of this.
  • Please also consider the differences in bulb length and check the installation space.

  • FAQ: What are the disadvantages of aftermarket lights?

  • If you install bulbs with a high Kelvin rating, visibility may be reduced during bad weather conditions such as rain or fog.
  • These lights are not genuine, but rather generic products, so compatibility with your vehicle may be an issue.

  • FAQ: What is the lifespan of an LED?

  • LEDs have a longer lifespan and consume less power compared to standard halogen bulbs. However, they are not indefinitely on, and the lifespan is said to be several tens of thousands of hours. These values are measured under certain conditions, and factors such as vibration, heat, and current can affect the lifespan, so the actual lifespan can vary significantly depending on the usage environment. Nevertheless, the lifespan is longer than that of traditional bulbs.

  • FAQ: Is waterproofing necessary?

  • Due to compatibility issues with the vehicle's lighting fixtures, there is a risk of water ingress. Waterproofing must be done. Each connector and ballast is waterproof. Additionally, parts are designed with simple waterproofing or waterproof rubber. However, in places where water is likely to splash, water can infiltrate and cause non-lighting or malfunction. Therefore, customers are requested to perform waterproofing themselves. *Products with insufficient waterproofing are not covered by the warranty.

  • FAQ: If there is an adapter-like device between the halogen bulb and the power terminal, can it be installed as is?

  • If there is an adapter-like device between the halogen terminal and the power terminal, you may need to use a separate HID bulb adapter, etc. If you do not use a bulb adapter, there may be cases where the power supply cannot be secured or fixed, so please check the shape of the vehicle side adapter and select accordingly. *We do not handle LED products.

  • FAQ: My battery is old. Is it okay?

  • Using a battery that has exceeded its durability may cause voltage drop, which could lead to HID non-lighting or system malfunctions. Additionally, if you have installed many electrical devices (such as navigation and audio) on your vehicle, the battery may be overloaded, resulting in HID malfunction or non-lighting.
  • In such cases, switching to a battery with a larger capacity or replacing it with a new battery may improve the situation.

  • FAQ: Will the bulb out warning light come on when replacing from halogen to HID/LED? (Imported vehicles)

  • In imported vehicles, the bulb out warning light may come on. This happens because HID or LED bulbs consume less current than standard bulbs. As long as the lights are functioning normally, there is no problem.
  • In cases where the bulb out warning light is equipped in imported vehicles, please use HID or LED products in combination with the warning canceller.
  • C3 warning canceller + single relay is required. (For LED headlight conversion) The LED headlights we currently sell are compatible with imported vehicles, so no additional canceller is needed.
  • ※ Due to individual differences in vehicles, there may be rare cases where the bulb out warning light error cannot be avoided. Please consider the risk as returns are not accepted after power is supplied.

  • FAQ: Does LED have polarity?

  • Yes, LED has polarity (+, -). If the polarity is reversed during installation, the light will not turn on. In such cases, please insert the LED in the reverse direction. For products that are labeled as "non-polar," they are designed to light up regardless of which side is connected, so you do not need to check the polarity.
