FAQ: Installing an H3 HID Kit When the Vehicle's Negative Power Terminal Is Not Visible

Q: I want to install an H3 HID kit, but I can't find the vehicle's negative power terminal. What should I do?

HID Kit Single

Due to the specifications of H3 halogen bulbs, there may not be a negative power terminal on the vehicle side. The metal base of an H3 halogen bulb acts as the negative terminal, with a single positive terminal protruding. Consequently, the lens unit itself may serve the role of negative earth, and there might not be a wiring lead for this purpose. In such cases, if there is a negative earth terminal connected to the lens unit, you should connect to it. Otherwise, you may need to directly connect to a metal part of the body.

FAQ: Will the Fuse Blow When Switching from Halogen to HID?

Q: Does switching from halogen bulbs to HID increase the risk of blowing a fuse?

Switching from halogen bulbs to HID can sometimes increase the current consumption, which may lead to the vehicle's fuse blowing. In such cases, consider replacing the fuse with one rated for approximately 15A or use a power stabilizing relay. Note that HID power-up kits cannot be used in this context.

Furthermore, if your vehicle originally uses a significantly lower rated fuse (e.g., 7.5A) like in some H16 setups, replacing it with a 15A fuse without using a power stabilizing relay could potentially damage the vehicle due to overcurrent. Always use a voltage stabilizing relay harness to prevent this.

FAQ: Are They Compatible with Auto-Light and Idle Stop Systems?

Q: Is the product compatible with auto-light and idle stop systems?

Auto-Light Function Compatibility: HID systems require high voltage at the time of ignition. While normal switch ON/OFF operations allow for regular lighting, the use of auto-light may result in non-illumination in some cases. As indicated on our product pages, the installation of our product may cause malfunction of the auto-light feature in some vehicles. Therefore, at this time, vehicles equipped with auto-light are generally not supported. Please understand this limitation. Note that LED products are also not compatible.

Idle Stop Function Compatibility: Our products are not compatible with idle stop functions. Installing HID kits in vehicles equipped with an idle stop feature may result in unstable current flow to the HID kit upon resuming from idle stop, potentially causing flickering or non-illumination. We recommend using a power stabilizing relay to ensure a stable voltage supply to the HID kit. Please note that issues related to these symptoms are not covered under warranty. Additionally, even with a power stabilizing relay installed, improvement may not be guaranteed for all vehicles.

FAQ: Is the HID Kit Compatible with Flashing (Passing Light)?

Q: Can the HID kit be used for flashing/passing signals?

Yes, the HID kit is compatible with flashing/passing, so you can use it with confidence. LED lights, which reach maximum brightness instantly upon lighting, are even more suitable for this purpose. Using the flashing/passing function does not adversely affect the bulb, but please be aware that excessively frequent switching between high and low beams beyond normal usage can potentially reduce the lifespan of the bulbs.

FAQ: About Smoke and Burnt Smell

Q: What should I do if there's a burnt smell or if sparks are observed?

If you notice a burnt smell or see sparks, it is possible that the product is faulty. Please stop using it immediately and contact us.

Please check the following:

  • Ensure that you have not touched the glass tube part of the bulb with bare hands. Touching the bulb can cause oil and dirt from your hands to adhere to it, potentially leading to damage. If the glass tube part gets contaminated with oil or dirt, please clean it with a clean cloth before use. Be cautious of leaving any fabric residues.

FAQ: Unable to Install H8 Bulb Due to Different Claw Size

Q: I purchased an H8 bulb, but I can't install it because the claw size is different. What should I do?

Relevant Product: HID Kit Single

The products we handle are sold as compatible with H8, H9, H11, and H16. However, depending on your vehicle, installation without modification may be difficult due to differences in the base claw size. It may be necessary to slightly file down part of the claw on the base for installation.

The extent of modification required varies by vehicle model, but we kindly ask you to slightly file down the claw on the base as needed for use.

FAQ: The Glass Inside the Bulb Has Discolored

Q: Why has the glass inside the bulb discolored?

Relevant Product: The bulb's light-emitting tube contains several types of metal halides, which evaporate to produce light. However, some substances may not fully evaporate and can adhere to the inside of the light-emitting tube. If you notice discoloration, such as brown or white, this is a characteristic of HID bulbs and is not considered a defect. Please rest assured.

FAQ: What is the Size of the Hole to Drill in the Plastic Cover?

Q: What diameter should the hole be for the plastic cover?

Relevant Product: Please drill a round hole of approximately φ25mm in the plastic cover. It is essential to apply a sealant or silicone to the joint with the rubber cap to ensure waterproofing.

FAQ: About the Noise

Q: What should I do about the noise coming from the HID kit?

Relevant Product: HID Kit Single

Contents:

  • When the light is turned on, a buzzing electronic sound comes from the ballast, which disappears after a few seconds. This noise is believed to be a high-frequency sound produced during the operation of the ballast. This operational noise is not indicative of a malfunction, so please rest assured. Additionally, there is individual variation in ballasts, resulting in differences in the loudness of the noise. However, as long as there is no issue with the lighting, you can use the product with confidence.
  • If you have installed an H4 relay and hear a clicking noise when switching to high beam, this is the sound of the relay switch and is not a problem. If the noise is excessively loud, please contact us.
